Preschoolers are little bundles of energy. Active Preschool Games provide a creative outlet for that energy. These active games are loads of fun for preschoolers – and the more preschoolers playing, the better! Plan an afternoon of preschool games and invite the neighborhood preschoolers over! Or, if you’d prefer more spontaneous fun, active Preschool Games are just as much fun with one preschooler. Play whenever the mood strikes! Contact me if you’d like to share one of your active preschool games.
Balloon Tag Preschool Game
Why play Tag when you can play Balloon Tag? Adding balloons to this classic game makes it much more fun for preschoolers. Make this preschool game more challenging by adding extra balloons! Preschoolers can even bat the balloons to the ground to make things tough for the tagger. This active preschool game can be played alone or with friends!
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends limiting all screens (including video games) to 1 hour per day for children ages 2β5. Simple, educational touchscreen games have minimal harm when time-limited; fast-paced, commercial, or violent video games are not appropriate for preschoolers at any screen time level. The best educational value comes from games that are interactive and challenge thinking β simple puzzles, matching, and story-based apps. Video games should not replace physical games or creative play for any preschooler.
Games that scale across ages: tag (with rules adapted for the youngest), freeze dance, bubbles, parachute games, relay races where each age-group leg is appropriately challenging, and Red Light Green Light. Avoid games where skill level strongly determines outcome β 2-year-olds and 6-year-olds cannot play a fair game of soccer. Focus on games where chance, enthusiasm, and participation matter more than developmental skill.
