Every activity is designed for ages 2–6, uses materials you already have at home, and takes 20 minutes or less. We cover crafts, science, fitness, nutrition, music, books, outdoor adventures, and much more.
A paper tool belt filled with paper tools — hammer, wrench, screwdriver — makes a fun Father's Day role-play prop and gift. Children draw and cut the tools themselves, then present the belt in a dramatic "tool delivery" moment.
Step 1: Make the belt. Cut a long strip of brown cardstock wide enough to tie around the waist. Decorate.
Step 2: Add pockets. Fold and glue smaller strips of cardstock to the belt to create pockets.
Step 3: Make paper tools. Children draw and cut out: a hammer, wrench, tape measure, screwdriver. Color them.
Step 4: Fill the pockets. Slip each paper tool into a pocket.
Step 5: Present! Help the child present the belt with a proclamation: "For the best fix-it dad!"
Representational drawing — Drawing recognizable tools requires observation and visual memory.
Role and occupational awareness — Understanding what tools are for builds real-world knowledge.
Let children draw the tools themselves even if they're not perfectly realistic — the authenticity of a child-drawn hammer is far more charming than a traced one.
