Gluing cotton balls onto a Santa face until the beard is full is one of those endlessly satisfying preschool Christmas crafts — fluffy, tactile, and instantly recognizable. The completed Santa face is charming enough to display on a door or window.
Step 1: Build the face. Glue a large red circle (head) onto background paper. Add a red triangle hat and a white paper hat brim.
Step 2: Add the face. Add googly eyes, a small pink circle nose, and pink rosy cheeks.
Step 3: Glue the beard. Pull cotton balls slightly to make them fluffier, then glue them across the lower half of the red circle in a full, fluffy beard.
Step 4: Add the mustache. Glue a curved row of cotton balls for the mustache above the mouth area.
Step 5: Display! Hang on a door or window.
Tactile exploration — Stretching and shaping cotton balls is a unique sensory experience.
Coverage and composition — Filling in the beard area densely requires planning and persistence.
Encourage children to pull the cotton balls apart before gluing — pulled-apart cotton looks dramatically more like a real fluffy beard than intact compact balls. It also makes the bag go further!
