A wand wrapped with red, white, and blue streamers creates a flowing, fluttery parade accessory that children love waving, spinning, and running with. Parade streamers are one of the simplest crafts and one of the most joyful to use.
Step 1: Decorate the wand. Wrap tape around the top of the dowel. Apply star stickers.
Step 2: Attach streamers. Tape several strips of red, white, and blue crepe paper to the top of the wand.
Step 3: Secure tightly. Wrap tape around all the streamer ends several times so nothing pulls loose during energetic waving.
Step 4: Wave it! Run, spin, and parade with the streamers flying!
Gross motor play — Running and waving builds full body coordination.
Sensory delight — The visual effect of streaming colors is mesmerizing and joyful.
Double the tape — streamers always pull loose during enthusiastic waving if under-secured. A few extra wraps of tape at the attachment point will survive even the most vigorous parader.
