PreschoolRocks.com has been a trusted resource for parents and caregivers since 2006. Founded by Stacey Lloyd, our mission is simple: give every family free access to high-quality early childhood ideas without needing a teaching degree or a big budget.
Every activity is designed for ages 2–6, uses materials you already have at home, and takes 20 minutes or less. We cover crafts, science, fitness, nutrition, music, books, outdoor adventures, and much more.
A jar filled with handmade coupons — each redeemable for a hug, a car wash, a breakfast-in-bed attempt, or a chosen activity — is one of the most heartfelt Father's Day gifts a child can give. It costs nothing but time and thought, and the ongoing redeeming of coupons extends the gift throughout the year.
Step 1: Decorate the jar. Tie ribbon around the jar. Add a label: "Dad's Coupon Jar."
Step 2: Make coupons. Write or stamp coupon ideas on index cards: "One Free Hug," "I'll Wash the Car (sort of)," "Movie Night — Your Pick," "I'll Make You Breakfast," "One Piggyback Ride Request."
Step 3: Decorate the coupons. Children draw on each coupon — hearts, stars, pictures of them doing the activity.
Step 4: Fill the jar. Roll or fold coupons and fill the jar.
Step 5: Present! Dad can redeem coupons all year.
Empathy — Thinking about what Dad would enjoy requires perspective-taking.
Writing and language — Dictating or writing coupon content develops language skills.
Gift-giving imagination — Giving experiences rather than objects is a sophisticated kind of generosity.
Children take coupon redemption VERY seriously. Expect that dad will be asked to redeem the "Free Hug" coupon approximately daily. The jar becomes a ritual in itself.
